Gorgie War Memorial Hall - Celebration Day
Saturday 28th August 1pm - 4pm  - Free Entry!

Gorgie War Memorial Hall - Affectionately known locally as the Gorgie 'Mem'

A special celebration day is being hosted by the Gorgie War Memorial Hall to thank the local community for all the help and support provided during the recent campaign to prevent the closure of the hall. The Gorgie 'Mem' as the hall is affectionately known within the local area was earmarked for closure by City of Edinburgh Council in order to save an estimated £24,000, however, the local community came forward in their thousands to help keep the community centre open.

The celebration will feature a wide range of activities ranging from live music, children's entertainers, activity demonstrations and a special prize raffle with a wonderful selection of prizes. The event is free to enter and local residents are also invited to bring along a picnic and enjoy the hall's garden area which is only one of two designated safe play areas for young children in the Gorgie Dalry area.

"Set To Be A Great Day Out For All The Family!"

Another Fantastic Award for ACE IT!

Everyone involved with ACE IT are delighted and thrilled at the news that once again all the hard work and effort invested by ACE IT staff and volunteers has resulted in yet another major national award.

The Moose In The Hoose is a project aimed at introducing the benefits of computers and the Internet to those living in Care Homes and attending Day Care Centres across Edinburgh.

Over the last few years the 'Moose' has gone from strength to strength with almost 30 volunteers providing regular internet access and web assistance in a wide selection of residential homes and care centres across Edinburgh. While the hugely popular initiative has become a leading example of best practice for organisations involved in working with those in residential care, the project has never lost the sense of fun enjoyed by those participating.

We (the Edinburgh Silver Surfers) send out our heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved in the project over winning the Nominet Internet Award 2010 for the category 'Nurturing Powerful Local Partnerships'. A richly deserved recognition of the Mooses' many achievements... Well done one and all!
