This event was organised by CSV
Scotland – presented by Brid Cullen - and was held in the Friends’ Meeting Hall
in Victoria Terrace on Wednesday 20th July and was attended by Honor, Kath,
Margaret P. and Madge from the Silver Surfers together with the Tutors.
As
well as the Surfers there were ladies who had served during WW 11 in various
branches of the armed forces - WAAFs, WRNS, ATS and the Land Army. Other
organisations, such as the National Trust for Scotland, the Red Cross and the
Girl Guides also came along.
Jenny Ridge (Chief Executive
Director, ACE-IT) gave a short talk explaining the excellent work being done
bringing information technology to the over-50s.
There were displays of
memorabilia and photographs laid out on a table which brought lots of memories
to the surface from people who had served in the War.
A lovely buffet was provided plus
a choice of sweet or dry sherry which encouraged mingling which led to old
friendships being renewed and new ones started up. The ‘knees-up’ was next and
this was rounded off with a sing-song of all the old wartime ditties.

"...A grand afternoon of memories
was enjoyed by all!" |
