"Surfer Day Oot!" Inaugural Farmer's
Market at Gorgie City Farm
The Surfers visited the inaugural Farmers’ Market held in
the grounds of Gorgie Farm on Saturday 19th March. There was
a good attendance and the stall-holders were hopeful that it
would become a regular feature on the third Saturday of the
month.
The Surfers joined in the general enthusiasm and made
their own purchases around the stalls. We had a good choice
among the stalls for fruit and vegetables, a good variety of
cheeses, butcher meat – off the bone as well as burgers and
pies – fish, and confectionary. On the non-food side there
were stalls with soap and children's toys and stationery.
Apart from the goodies found in Jemima’s Pantry, there was
‘food to go’ available in the Market.
It was a lovely morning, the sun was shining and people were
relaxed and listening to the music provided by the Scots
Music Group. We had a great day out and everyone else also
seemed to feel the same way. We can highly recommend paying
the market a visit - with plenty of room to expand within
the farm's grounds, the event could grow and become a major
community event - not only for local residents but for folk
from across Edinburgh and beyond!
